I've always enjoyed Dave Gibbons out of the box approach. He is a brilliant thinker and a very innovative leader. This book is a different read and it makes you think deeply, especially as it pertains to how we do what we do. Although I believe firmly in what is shared this book requires deep think in and questions that will enable you to see what needs to be modified in your context. As a firm believer in the local church and as a pastor, it makes me think about how I would translate these principles into my context.Product details

We are called to love, we must by the church, the home to love and be loved and the academy to be equipped. A must read for every person.
Thanks for reminding me why we do what we do. Refreshing and beautiful. Dave challenges us to rethink the way that we do things as the church. There are times we do things based on our own default mode, what we call normal. Yet, Dave helps us to think outside the box, literally outside the walls of the church to see what might hinder us from experiencing the fullness of what we were created to be! Great read!
Encouraging. Somewhat pedantic.
Love the book overall. I wish he would have gone deeper into the trials and tribulations he faced in going a different direction. Yet great place to start when thinking about doing church and ministry differently and more organically.
Small Cloud Rising really opens up through first hand experience the folly of our modern organized religion. Dave challenges us to rethink the rituals and instead focus on the reasons we do church, and for all those who feel church isn't for them, it might just be because we've been building the wrong kind of church. Thought provoking.
This book helped me to know I wasn't alone. God is doing something bigger than what we can see and this takes the pressure off of bigger is better. It gives the freedom to be the church that God is calling you to be. It points to a deep dependence on God's power and motivates you to what matters most.
This book is a much-needed prophetic call for the Western Church to re-prioritize our understanding of church and missional effectiveness, and it could not come at a more appropriate time for me, a Pastor and Church Planter in NYC.
I am most fearful of building a Babel without making a meaningful, God-honoring, mark in this world.
At the same time, I am thrilled about what ministry could be, an everyday experience that is awakened to the ways God is working outside church walls.
